Discussion on metadata seems to appear occasionally on the geojson list, but "not in scope" seems to be the reply. Use another format?
OK, I'll try my best to get to grips w it but I worry too much time spent on this over someth else so I will prioritise other stuff first.

Your use-case is probably like assigning `unit` to one column: https://github.com/openclimatedata/global-carbon-budget/blob/master/datapackage.json#L59 … - you can of course define arbitrary extensions ...

Not by default maybe, but should be possible to build something like (or extend) the data_package_reader to load GeoJSON with GeoPandas ...
