I agree almost completely and my objections are "baby with the bathwater" focused
ah because you really like a different unusual type of indexing? I think unusual stuff is fine but if students get into it
they have to do so knowingly. Otherwise, you expect certain behaviours (e.g., starting from 1) that introduce bugs.
