Very well written, although I disagree. IMHO using a high level language+IDE is the very point of making science accessible.
fair! Do you think Matlab is good or just that IDEs are useful?
Both. I'm biased (been 11yrs there), yet: the lang has its deficiencies, but makes up with focus on math, speed, ease. Tried OO?
are you asking if I have tried object orientation? Yes, I have even coded objects from scratch in scheme. Why?
Try OO in Matlab. Not perfect, but addresses some issues you rightso attribute to its function system.
I don't use closed source stuff if I can avoid it, so no thanks
If it serves you well… what phone do you use, BTW? ;-) Seriously: I aim to use the best tool available, regardless closed or open.
you don't do science for yourself only, do you? So science tools we use differ from our phones and toothbrushes.
