G in Greek is a dipthong, γκ or γγ. For foreign words it's always γκ.

An example of γγ is άγγελος (masculine noun) angle. Pronounced kind of like ah-geh-loh-s or if you have a Cypriot accent kind of like Anne(like the name)-geh-los.

I like this, but a lot of researchers hate the idea of learning to code. MATLAB is "there" for those who want to dip their toes in

if any language is taught crap, people gonna hate. Courses need to be easy to follow, not "we teach it because it's hard" mentality

To reiterate my points against Matlab are NOT easy=bad: Matlab doesn't give transferable skills and it's not open science. 🙁

You said "nothing, at least superficially, seems hard..." You mean: it seems easy, but actually not because no transferable skills?

And I just learned that Matlab added the ability to have functions with scripts in the 2016b release: see https://uk.mathworks.com/products/matlab/whatsnew.html …

@rgaiacs not sure what this means? you can have a file with funcs & script? I don't actually know ML jargon cos don't use it.

now a Matlab pgm (a script) can define the fxns it calls at end of the script. Before each fxn had to be a separate file.

for me personally the worst thing is the crutches provided by the IDE — something that I doubt will ever be removed.

.@o_guest you should read the section about "String Arrays" on https://nickhigham.wordpress.com/2017/03/22/whats-new-in-matlab-r2017a/ …. That's why I'm a big fan of #Python's PEP.
