Took a coding class last semester (Matlab+Python) and I wish they'd excluded the Matlab part and focused more on Python!

Sure!:) I think my main reasons for preferring Python were: 1.More sources of getting help/easier to find help online 1/

Also like you said, you can teach yourself tons of Python online so it's not that bad they didn't spend more time.
