I see more consistency in naming conventions and how arguments passed to functions...much function code is readable (and commented)

thought so I wonder why they don't let people modify source then, like a pr on github. Must be licensing...

many write their own toolboxes/libraries/tools etc. as open source just as for python (e.g., SPM)

I guess MATLABs model will have to change, so that they can make a profit on their product against strong OS competition.

I don't know - must be very difficult. They could sell the IDE and toolboxes, but keep language and core functions free?...
