Ok so that's sealed the deal. I'm writing my next blog post on what's wrong with Matlab. Send in ideas or hatemail quick.
that's not exactly the kind of work flow I criticise when I do. But is it worrisome for you that Matlab is dying?

Dying?
-
well others have said it's being displaced by python, and that it's being taught less... Seems like it is to me.
-
if you don't think so, then do you at least hope they change their model of licensing?
-
...I don't think it's dying. Matlab changed to site licenses (instead of headcount), so that's helped too
-
fair enough, so you don't think other free languages will overtake?
-
will increase their share as incorporate equiv function, but don't see Matlab being phased out anytime soon
-
you don't think free & open source equivalents will kill it off like with many similar cases? What's diff?

-
what about the opposite... lots of popular software have FOSS equivalents but persist, e.g., MS Office, Adobe Acrobat and Photoshop
