Does anybody know how Matlab became so big in science? What's the story? It's expensive, inflexible & not pedagogical. How did this happen?

anaconda is about as confusing as the matlab installer. If only data science would embrace ruby :/

never got into it

not ruby, anaconda

it’s a good way to make sure the scipy stack is all in line and stable and you don’t wanna deal with it.
-
sure but I don't like faff and I'm lucky to be on a system with a package manager

if you’re using pip and numpy updates in a way pandas isn’t ready for you’re outta luck. if u use virtualenv it’s all good

I'll survive

I'd rather compile my network card from scratch like it used to be on Linux for years than anything close to Matlab /Windows
