is this specifically a problem of closed-source software? python packages may change in subtle ways between releases too...
certainly but it's documented and has an active tech community outside science and I like reminding people of closed source.
but yes, you're right it can happen in C, Python, julia, Matlab.
any language, but no language is as badly designed, nor expensive, nor teaches as bad habits as Matlab.
when I moved from compsci my brain imploded that people use this in non-cs science
