These two men were enormously rich and successful even before the allegations were madehttps://twitter.com/AllieBeauregard/status/836076903412944896 …
sure but that's like saying people who bring up false racism allegations should be prosecuted... it's not a common thing!

-
I can recall about half a dozen cases of hate crime hoaxes in the international news in the past six months- less common =/= rare
-
less common is surely the definition of something rare
-
acts of racism far far outnumber acts of false claims for racism — so yes, absolutely rare
-
They still happen often enough for it to be an issue, imo. We can address both problems without solely focussing on one
-
there's 7b of us, we can address tons of problems — just hopefully not in a zero sum way. Sometimes the way 1 prob is addressed
-
exacerbates the other. And sometimes it's important in what order we do stuff.

there's little motive to falsely accuse somebody of raping you... it's admitting something extremely taboo and shameful: rare
-
stats on false rape allegations and what we know about humans not wanting to admit horrible stuff about selves back this up
-
if anything we should empower and encourage survivors & victims to speak up not scare them with false rape allegations stories
-
I think it's possible to empower people to speak up whilst also not making it too easy to witch-hunt.
-
that's great then — tell me more
-
Just by continuing to support survivors and chip away at the stigma whilst also having fairly strong sentences for PROVEN lies
-
I don't think somebody should go to prison just if the defendant is found not guilty, it should have to be a definite falsehood
-
there's no definite — human memory = not precise, expert witnesses shown later to be wrong, eye-witness accounts = problematic
