I don't like it either, but some jobs and funding agencies mention "CV with photo".

I'm assuming in US. Not here.

or Germany?

@o_guest Agreed. Also don't want to know your marital status or health status! -
This is a cultural thing, though. In Germany you get taught to put all sorts of crap in your CV.
-
EXACTLY it's a cultural thing. This is exactly why I mentioned that it's to do with Jim Crow etc etc.
-
I'm not sure if Woodrow Wilson had much influence on the way CVs are done in Germany.
-
I don't want to keep repeating myself, but as a cultural norm it's gross regardless.
-
Also don't underestimate the effect norms in the US have on shaping the world. In many cases USA is the standard-setter.

Standard in US too — hence why I mentioned Jim Crow laws...
-
yeah, didn't know that. it's bloody weird anyway, that just makes it worse.

in the UK it's illegal to ask for photo for most jobs, along with age, dob, relationship status etc.
-

Hate those. We had one guy put his photo on a CV surrounded by some kind of floral ironworks. Looked like a memorial tombstone!
-
"floral ironworks" I am scared.
