The host said "I've met a lot of ppl in my life-- actors, singers, athletes-- but never a scientist, a black scientist"

And it really struck me. I can think of 3 black scientists in my subfield (5 neurosci total). How is this ok?

I'm really quite appalled. So kudos to all of you fighting for diversity in sci. I stand with you.

The lack of POC in our field is appalling. Recently in a group of sci, my bf (black neurosci) was asked, "Are you a scientist, too?"

I've been pondering recently how it's important to support diversity, but more importantly, we have to actively destroy racism

otherwise, how can we in good faith ask POC to join our field? when racism fills this field like landmines?
