I have just noticed that some package I tried out from GitHub managed to change my Git http://user.name and http://user.email .

So commits made any time after installing that package are now listed as being authored by that particular package author, not me.

YEP - Not happy at all. An install script should NEVER be messing with a user's git config. And certainly not in a permanent way.
