seriously... at least ive been thinking about the mind since high school but switched topics a lots and always feel behind in lit

it's prob not even true, like you're probably not behind at all. But obviously there's incentive to make us feel like we are.
-
not like a conspiracy, just a general competitiveness that I've noticed exists in certain fields over others.
-
definitely true. i hate when people are purposely opaque to test your knowledge
-
I've been in situs where they ask me what x thinks (known in field) and I've happened to know them personally. So it's fun.
-
but also really painful to think this is normal. I've even been told that x doesn't think that. Until x showed up of course!
-
so I can never be right even when I'm exactly right!

-
*sigh* OK. I think trans/interdisciplinary leaps are treated very diff though.
-
e.g., competing with those who have had maybe even a decade of reading of the literature when you have months

-
e.g., ex-boss insisted I wasn't reading enough, even tho ironically I know some of theories better than him.
-
either way, I appreciate the support.
