I think it's a way of reminding ourselves that we like programming when our job tries to convince us otherwise

The dev thing of having our job and our hobbies be so aligned is a bit weird, though I get where it comes from.

I'd not describe myself as a dev (obv) but definitely all the "extracurricular" science I do is still science...
