A more regimented schedule might help remind me that I do have time to get those things done. Especially personal projects.
*stops lurking* when you say personal productivity do you mean doing stuff you're not paid to do?

Lurking in the shadows
Yep! Side projects! -
Apologies in advance: I find it hard to imagine side-projects that = my job (just other projects/science) OR...
-
I think it's a way of reminding ourselves that we like programming when our job tries to convince us otherwise
-
Its for this reason that I'm tempted to actually move away from getting paid to write code.
-
I'm not exactly finding not getting paid to write code less depressing TBH
-
Well indeed. I'm currently finding being paid to write code depressing. This doesn't make programming seem great....
-
I'm really sorry to hear this. "Depressing" is a telling word. Be careful and try to find something that works!
-
I dont use it lightly, or untruthfully (I HATE people throwing it around like its nothing.)

There is remarkably little I'm paid to do right now, so I mostly mean trying to figure out ways to fix that.
-
so productivity generally?
-
There's a bunch of stuff that I'd probably count more as "interesting time wasting" but are arguable productive.
-
fair! Like blogging?
-
Often blogging is marketing work or a way of sorting out my thinking about something productive
-
This is like writing up for me, just you do it on a blog, mine might become a preprint — yep!
