Pet peeve: Really dislike pretending to be in another "harder" field. If you call self an engineer but in psy dept doing psy, fuck off, etc.

I'm worried we may be talking cross-purposes though! I do feel we must agree somewhere.

totally. I use those terms. but re: yr pt, each modifier serves to distinguish the "harder" branches of psych from the rest
-
oh yeah so ok, lemme just be clear: I would not start that in a discussion that was to dissociate me along such lines. Hence
-
why my pet peeve is my pet peeve. I really am loathe to constantly mentioning (if at all) what I do in those terms. The real
-
core of my pet peeve is people who keep mentioning they have a harder background/status/wtv esp in a social setting, e.g., at
-
a relaxed discussion within a psy dept.
-
So if X were to meet a new person and they asked X something general and X started saying "I have a harder degree" = MEGA ICK.
-
or "I am not a psychologist" even though this new person is in psy dept and published in psy journals exclusively. LIKE WHAT.
-
I totally agree. I just think that dividing psych up into harder subfields can be similar. Tho it can be useful in other ways.
