What do sci tweeps think about those who want to remain in sci & do research but do NOT want to be a PI? No mentorship/management interest?
I don't know of anybody who is an independent researcher and not at least try to have mentees and write grants.

These positions are called usually "research scientist", which is essentially a permanent position that is like a postdoc.
Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

I see, I guess I partly misunderstood - the ones I think of still mentor, although I don't know whether they "want" to
-
Oh, yeah, OK.That's why in my tweet I said not wanting to be PI and not wanting to mentor/manage. So what are you thinking of?
-
I guess not wanting to be PI and focus on research except liking or without minding mentoring responsibilities
-
I think you might have to explain this to me in person some point? I don't understand if women you know're in perm positions?
-
if not "permanent" it's been >10 years and it doesn't seem like they want to move to PI
-
what is the name of their role?
-
it varies but research fellow, research associate
-
that's classic postdoc though, not "research scientist". Interesting. I suppose they just kept getting renewed.
