Really!? I've seen @ResearchSoftEng stats that show it's on the decline... at least I think that is what I saw.
yeah but I assume you don't have a compsci degree (?) so your bias is very deeply biased (meta biased?) haha

no CS degree, just a general 'aptitude' for programming rather than formal training

I don't wanna sound like a snob but I am I guess: I find it hard to think Matlab = programming given the IDE.

That being said I respect you all for trying – without learning Scheme and Prolog and C I would be nowhere.
