I dunno about you but when I did my compsci degree we learned so many from Ada to Scheme to C to Prolog. Some are dead.

I do think it's OK for people to like older languages FWIW. C has special problems but is sometimes still fine.

C is the only realistic choice for low-level programming. I am just amazed people persist with it for science
