Will ask others too – also backfiring towards me is fine backfiring towards harming/confusing audience less good.

Yeah I don't mean backfire in the sense of getting you attacked, I mean that sometimes people will double down on the behaviour.

I'd probably put off dealing with it, bottle it up, get progressively more annoyed and finally blow up in an unproductive manner.
