@lakens Competitivity is part of human nature, to varying degrees. Communities must assign it a place where it does more good than harm. -
Right now, competition is overvalued in science, so I agree with
@lakens that it needs some toning down. -
Oh, I agree there is too much of it – but prescriptive rules on _such_ things never work out well IMHO.

Agreed. Competition is regulated indirectly through the definition of the rules of the game. Which is how hypercompetitivity sneaked in.

Prescriptive rules are actually often a cover-up for policies doing the opposite. At least here in France.
