doesn't the abstract say that women's contributions (so OK, not actually children/girls) are treated as worse then men's except
in the context where the contributions come from an account of ambiguous gender?
right-- (women's) accounts where the gender wasn't clear had the higher acceptance rates. i assume it means their code is better :)
that's an interaction effect with them making their account gender ambiguous though. So gender*gender-ambiguous-username. So
it's "the women who for wtv reason choose gender neutral usernames are likely to also be more accepted".
which personally I find disturbing – although yes, I agree with you that that does mean they are more accepted which could be
taken to mean they code better – but not by definition.
