I always call my GP "Dr" and the clergy "Rev" and the teacher "Mr" or "Ms"

this is a good point. Why are GPs and Revs comfortable with their titles but academics aren't?

titles keep a distance betwn you; useful for GPs, but we like being accessible to students and others?

In Singapore & Serbia I'm Prof Suzy. Prof= respect, FirstName=informality. Standard here

def way more heterogeneous in UK in my experience for any standard. Bt good 2 know.

in UK I was everything from Suzy, Dr Styles, Professor Styles, through to Hey Prof.
