I wonder if some perceived vicious criticism stems from cultural differences. 1/2
it's kind of personal. "that's wrong" is a tiny bit better. But in general I'd avoid myself.

Calling s.o. terrorist is def behind any line. To me "it's wrong" as a factual statement is OK. But I guess not to all.

Sometimes (Often) saying "there's a mistake in the paper" is already seen as "you're wrong" so no right way to criticize
