When deciding between similar libraries on github: I'll choose the 1 that listens to me & my issues, allows me to contribute, & is not rude.

because there are reviewers like me who badger you to release code? Better than not showing code.
-
the context is lost sadly. See tweet just above.
-
the reason I asked that q is because they released it stating they want contrib then were rude to/ignored me
-
oh, sorry, my bad. You're right picking the more friendly project, of course.
-
yes exactly. Also keep up the good work asking for code. And also making it open. We really need to remove shyness too.
-
of course that doesn't apply for people who file bug reports or even submit patches.
-
yeah 100% agreed on both

I make my personal stuff open source (and permissive) so people can steal (legally) if they find it useful.
-
that is cool - I'm curious: which license do you tend to go for?
-
@drjtwit made me make everything I own including my art (yes, seriously) cc-by haha -
made me = convinced me using argument and reason not forced me LOL

@kaythaney Maybe because of their quest for glory they see collaborators as potential parasites of their work -
in general maybe in the specific case I was referring to I think no. Although u are right, I think it's that usually!
-
in fact I can think of "famous" (infamous) examples of what you say! haha

maybe
#open is just on the name to attract people. I've found that very often. -
well, you might be right? like to attract people to do their work for free (sure) but unappreciated (not OK)...
-
academic world is a jungle, be always vigilant! That was one of the biggest lessons I learnt in my PhD. :)
-
that's good you learned that during your phd... I don't think I used github as much - def not collaboratively - during mine

Fork it.
-
I very much have. The problem = not that easy to fork & use if I don't understand the code 100%. Science etc.
