It's tiring sometimes talking to phd students. So many think that eg preprints promote scooping, or writing papers well is upsetting... 
I have noticed PhDs here vs previous uni r more misguided. I think staff/stu rels here r 2 hierarchical so they get little info.

I don't blame them for being naive but it's tiring. Altho I'm always surprised how they can be so into hierarchy but not listen.

coming from a youngling would b more upsetting. You can't expect people who've been doing it 1 way for 20 yrs to change so easily.
