Battling LaTeX as well. :-) Typesetting chemical equations at the moment, and rather than crashing, it just compiles with no end...
How long do I have to battle with "pdfTeX error (ext4): \pdfendlink ended up in different nesting level than \pdfstartlink."?

I've tried
@overleaf &@sharelatex & local latex installation on my linux... in my case I'm fairly certain it's hyperef bug(s) -
happy to help try to debug this if we can -- could you send details via http://overleaf.com/contact ? Thanks :)
-
I can but I am getting close and would like to fix it first myself - so perhaps soon
-
ok so just so you know it is the bug I linked to and I am using NOT pdflatex to get around it 1/2
-
but not on overleaf yet 2/2
-
ok - after hours of work - you must explicitly ask for XeLaTeX (it'll not do it automatically) and boom fixed!
-
hours because there were bibtex bugs too (by myself) - but the main one is the real one with PdfLaTeX and hyperef.

I hate LaTeX when it started with crazy errors. Always is one } that my text editor forgot to insert (never I :-))

it's def a bug here though in a very useful package http://tex.stackexchange.com/questions/1522/pdfendlink-ended-up-in-different-nesting-level-than-pdfstartlink …
