OMG, journals, stop making me download a .bib file with a single reference in it which I then have to open and copy-paste into my .bib db!

I didn't like using Mendeley either. Can't you also use Bibtex's search function? I use Sente for Mac, but it's now abandonware.

bibtex is not a search engine/reference manager it's a database/language for keeping references. You have to put them in.
