There are few places I support #Mansplaining: tutorials, reviews, debates or takedown pieces. Seriously, you can mansplain the hell out of the complex interdisciplinary research. #phdchat #AcademicTwitter #OpenScience
Also, don’t say “It’s clear from.. “, mansplain it for me!

Just to be clear, I use the term mansplain here to mean to explain something down to its atomic elements WITHOUT assuming the reader is an expert Perhaps I should use
#condesplaining to be gender neutral:https://twitter.com/vmbrasseur/status/1017525593057816576?s=20 …Pradeep Reddy added,

Would be good to have a term that emphasises FULLY explaning something in a well rounded manner -- I would avoid "mansplain" though, the term would distract from your intended use till the end of days. "Condes.." (patronizing superiority) also not good.

I think 'splaining has to be from somebody who knows less to somebody who knows more. Otherwise the terms loses the original meaning.

A good example would be a cis man who is not an expert explaining what it's like to have mittelschmerz to me while I'm trying to talk to my friend who isn't him about my period pain.

Or an English non-expert explaining the Cypriot problem to me while I'm trying to talk to my mum about a nuanced issue in Cypriot politics. That would be classic splaining.

To splain you need to insert yourself in a discussion where you rely on a social privilege you have, like male privilege for mansplaining, and not an inherent expertise that's relevant in the context.
