I think you already know the answer. You wouldn't like it if the same standard was applied to you.

With all due respect, the question wasn't directed at you so I'd appreciate it if you could abstain from further replies

Abeba, that is an honest, earnest question and deserves a similar reply. I am tagging
@SkepticReview89 here for reasons that will soon be apparent. Thread ending in END because some of this is nuanced and not do-able in 280 characters.2 replies 1 retweet 5 likes -

What *I* want from you is an apology for the white women white womening tweet about Gretchen (
@SkepticReview89's) comment about success of women, especially in context of what I see as the#bropenscience insult & slur.1 reply 0 retweets 11 likes -

It was a gratuitous, toxic, corrosive insult in its own right. I am not asking you to disavow any -- not a single 1 -- of your beliefs, attitudes, ideological positions, understanding of science/social science, or personal experiences that led you to that tweet. Just the tweet.

If you get that far, then perhaps deleting it would be best, but if we get to some constructive resolution? Maybe it would be best to keep the entire record intact. It has some potential to be incredibly edifying actually.

However, because it targeted Gretchen, I'd defer to what she wants. If she wants something else, it certainly would trump my preferences.

In the spirit of conciliation that I have to give you huge credit for initiating, here's a small concession: I apologize for having mis-spelled your name out of the box.

Here's perhaps a bigger one. If you would like to have a civil, thoughtful discussion about the bona fide issues that this twitter temptest touched on, say, on success/status of women or white people's potential for callous oblivion to the struggles faces by others, let's do it.

This is a strategy used by so many online trolls. She asked you to stop harassing her, so you’ve switched to “reasonable debate” mode. If someone tells you you’re bullying them, arguing with them until they agree you’re not is not a strategy anyone believes is well-meaning.
