To all the #openscience bros losing their shit over @o_guest's term #bropenscience, here's why: "When you're accustomed to privilege, equality feels like oppression."

@o_guest - am I missing something here? I thought the term just makes explicit that we should guard against OS being mostly championed/profiled by white cishet (etc) men (and so highlighting the extra responsibility of that group). Or was there smth more to it that I missed? -
You're missing that some people are upset about this.
-
That, I didn't miss
I am just trying to understand whether them being upset is as absurd as it seems.
It's just so weird, as if some people haven't been paying attention the past one or two decades... -
I guess it's another example of smth that for many minorities is a regular experience, but I am rarely exposed to. Hence the incredulity (if that's the word). So thank you for that, too

It's all good. I appreciate you and other speaking up as much as we all can.

-
They are harvesting interactions. It's attention hijacking.
-
Could you say more about this?
-
Sure. They are hyperaware of the followership & clickrate on threads they join. Their timing is discipled. Similar tactics for friend & foe. Their use of language is disciplined but dismissive to their targets. They check in with allies. Lee is piece o'work technically speaking.
