Hot take: #bropenscience *is* sexist...and alienates the very people that we want on our side. Science is, objectively, dominated by men, but I'm not sure this is the right approach. It feels a little bit like if we got called "lady scientists". Dismissed by gender.
There are many ways to address this (some I am opposed to): use a diff phrase to shed light on these issues; not talk about trends, social norms, etc., but individuals and single cases; not say anything negative about open science, only focus on positives and cookies; etc.

However, dialogue which includes enough/as many as possible from the people involved is required. So addressing some people's alienation and fear/discomfort/lack of interest of tweeting openly about it seems paramount before any further steps.
