Hot take: #bropenscience *is* sexist...and alienates the very people that we want on our side. Science is, objectively, dominated by men, but I'm not sure this is the right approach. It feels a little bit like if we got called "lady scientists". Dismissed by gender.

Again, I am not criticizing the ideas. I am just saying I understand any layperson seeing the term may get confused (as is happening) which is unfortunate.

Thanks for being thoughtful! These recent, small, interactions have been scary. I thought I was simply empathizing with people (in general) getting confused by this term but I will continue to be more careful On Twitter.
