Dear fellow #Cypriots,
Tomorrow is the anniversary of a day some Cypriots feel is important for them because they feel they escaped ethnic cleansing, they feel rescued, then other Cypriots who didn't have anything to do with those ugly events became refugees in their own country

...the sad truth is that many do not want to face, tackle, and discard, the propaganda we were fed at school as G/Cs BUT at least the younger generations are spared from almost all of the fucked up shit I/we/my generation had to endure.
-
I do see positive stuff in the future. So that's something. I feel often I am swimming in a sea of negativity (not towards ethnic minorities) but towards a better Cyprus generally. But I have to say that I do not agree with those people's negative takes.

The strides and dare-I-say leaps and bounds Cypriots, all of us, have made in the last 10 years are amazing. If one can't see it, it's probably because they are lost in the details. The reality is, we're actually really impressive as a culture given how bad our recent past is.
-
I like to describe myself as pessimistically optimist. I see bad stuff in the details but the zoomed out picture is one of hope.

Also I need to learn Turkish.

-
my daughter's teaching herself Greek :) I'll start too, soon, hopefully.
-
Good luck to us all and hopefully we can be charitable with each others' suboptimal accents! LOL
