You, professor, are the epitome of racist, toxic white privilege in academia - an embodiment of the aggression that drives WoC out of academia. Shame on you. https://twitter.com/MarcDefant/status/1151843117991190530 …

Oh look, the prof is assembling his elk And no, professor. We're not equals. I'm a grad student struggling to survive academia. You're a prof with huge power to affect the lives of many & bet not many WoC survive in your establishment due to your toxicity https://twitter.com/MarcDefant/status/1151851354245214208?s=19 …

you are a grad student that had affirmative action. I am a white professor that had to overcome affirmative action to get where I am. Don't lecture me on struggles.

Counter-point: you (and I) are playing life on Easy mode, and your abilities are a fraction of @Abebab's. You also clearly have no understanding of what affirmative action does (or, more likely, don't *want* to have a proper understanding of it)

Yes, my 30 some years in academia has blinded me to the meaning of affirmative action - where people are told not to hire the most meritorious but to use skin color and gender.

If there's no inherent between-group difference in aptitude, AA will not leave out the most meritorious candidates. Instead, if racial bias exists, it's non-application of AA that will lead to the inclusion of less capable members. You're clearly not a math/stats prof, at least.

insulting response from an "intellectual." You assume that racial bias exists. Did you ever consider the possibility it does not at least in the higher intellectual strata of society? Math/stats require a consideration of all hypotheses. And oh BTW you are arrogant as hell.
