It's that day again! Special day! Only twice a year! Air raid siren day!

And the guy was Turkish Cypriot (of course, it's the TRNC) and he could speak Greek (rarer for younger generations, but he was old enough to have lived with Greek Cypriots, before the ghettos and partition in the 60s and 70s) and he like many lost his house and village back then.

So anyway, my parents were thirsty so they bought some refreshing drinks, drank them & were ready to leave but the guy offered them zivania (Cypriot raki/ouzo) at 11am! And of course they drank. So they got up to leave again but he brought out kattimeri!http://cinnamonspiceblog.com/kattimerka-a-cypriot-treatition/ …

The guy was practicing his Greek enjoying sharing his drinks & food. Ofc eventually my parents said "we've got to go now, otherwise we'll stay for ever!" Remember this was in the midst of a planned walk... And the guy said "Now I have found you why would I let you leave?"

Hang in there. I know it sucks (Turkey has a similar practice).

Much strength to you! I doubt noise canceling headphones would be of any use against this kind of persistent note? Still might be worth trying at least.

I didn't even try to get good photos, it's just actually this photogenic. I took only one per angle. I always feel bad for not trying to capture many photos but I don't really get punished.
