i for one am just so *grateful* that a man, an honest and true ally to the underrepresented and voiceless, has finally come along to lead the charge, voice these controversial ideas and take the credit he is due

Yeah. That made me roll my eyes a bit too. There's a whole separate thing going on in the R community right now where a guy said roughly the same thing and everyone is pissed at him. But here... that same lukewarm take really does count as progress.

If the marketplace of ideas really existed this would be that kind of stuff, like fake fish or fake beef, that you would need a government of ideas to regulate and make good again.

He linked to a post on Berkson's paradox, so it seems the point was that even if diversity and quality are positively correlated, a misleadingly negative correlation can be artificially created by a decision threshold.
