I think that’s why I’m salty. People were talking about these issues years ago and were seen as a “distraction” or “trying to justify the old system” and made it clear it wasn’t even a secondary priority for most

I used to defend SIPS against these same criticisms a few years ago but having seen the same lack of a response for so long, I've become openly critical.

I havent been able to attend for the past couple years ($$), but what is the atmosphere of the conference like? the interim committee made diversity/inclusivity a priority when we were trying to shape the mission/identity of SIPS...1/2

but i know there hasnt been an official statement re: demonstrated toxicity. SIPS is v much a member-driven society, so i think public critique is important to reinforce society norms. i hope that ppl feel empowered to work on these issues at the conference & to keep speaking up!
