I've spent more than 22 years online. People try to impress but after so much time I know all the tricks in the book so it's hard to mislead my judgement on that. Instead I might find their online profile AFTER a brief meeting in person and discover they support something awful.

As a rule of the thumb, people spending an insane amount of time online, especially those trying to build a certain "persona", display some serious ongoing issues in real life.

What kind of issues in your opinion?

-
Yeah. FTR I'm not happy online or off.

I once had dinner with (bio) physicist Prof Athene Donald. I knew a little of her work and that was mainly what we talked about. But she has had an absolutely stunning life, which I only found out about on Desert Island Discs. I was really kicking myself, still kind of am.
