Can you imagine visual things? For example, can you bring to mind the face of a good friend, like if you were actually seeing them in front of you?

Yes, I think so. Not sure whether there’s a formal test of it, but I just don’t “see” things when thinking of them. Can imagine voices, though!

Is there is training to improve visualising/minimize aphantasia? Tangent, I am fairly certain I have some dyspraxia and I certainly improve with training and seem to learn (eventually!) motor programs just as well as others. Although motor programs are arguably worth learning. 🤣

Usually it doesn't bother me. I just accept the fact that I am not very visual person. I also don't dream visually. Funnily, I sometimes dream that I read continue reading a book that I was reading before but I'm not immersed in the story I literally dream reading.

That's funny. I've had dreams that are super boring like that I was typing or just went into a kitchen and drank milk. But of course they are visual, just really boring. 😅

There are usually very confusing though because sometimes I don't know what I actually read and what was only in my dream.

I find it amusing you can read in your sleep. I have never managed to do that. When I have the rare lucid dream I try to open up books but the words don't really make sense visually, cannot be read.

When I was young and chatting on ICQ with friends, I had the same. Luckily there was a chat history so I could check what was actually part of our conversation.

I had never considered this in such a way. May well be the reason we usually do not remember dreams for long, to prevent distortion of reality.

I know it's a dream, so it's easy but I also have to say it's not always a coincidence my dreams do this. There might be a modelling thing here where I am dreaming of what I think of the person.

This makes total sense, in a replay frame-work I guess, but also if dreams are doing some type of simulation.
