Can you imagine visual things? For example, can you bring to mind the face of a good friend, like if you were actually seeing them in front of you?

Haha, same for me, tbh! Didn’t realise it wasn’t the norm. Other modalities are an interesting question, because I think people just assume you can’t imagine e.g. a smell anyway, and thus don’t consider it aphantasic? (Little poll here suggests it’s actually quite common

Skimming the above example article I wonder if the bit I'm highlighting is true: "It has been associated with similar conditions such as face blindness or tone deafness, though it ***does not*** affect cognitive or physical function."
-
In fact it's directly contradicted by the drawing task which the person with aphantasia seems to be impaired at compared to somebody without, especially since delayed drawing and copying, etc., is used to measure FTLD patients' semantic memory ability.

Very good question! I know of a few people who have been trying to record aphantasia in participants in visual short-term memory tasks, but haven’t seen any of their results yet. (
@l_nobis,@neuroRaquel, is this still a thing?) -
I wonder if there are artists with aphantasia.

There was an exhibition of artists with aphantasia and hyperphantasia as part of the Extreme Imagination conference, in Exeter in Aprilhttps://www.rammuseum.org.uk/past-exhibitions/extreme-imagination-minds-eye/ …
