I don't know. I think it would be nice to have stats people teach undergraduate stats. It all depends.

At my uni stats profs teach undergrad stats to all majors. I think it’s good for our students. Though ofc not everyone is a good teacher, that’s aside from area expertise.

Just curious if you know the DFUW rates of those courses? If the stats dept is successful, perhaps other unis could learn from them?

(DFW rate = proportion of students who fail with D or F or by withdrawing from the course.)

Never heard of it either but we also don't give letter grades but percentages when we mark.

It's a bit bizarre. We don't give percentages over 70% often. UK system is far from a good way to of things.

I just hate given categorical grades, it leads to a whole lot of arguing over rounding and .01% points etc. I would rather just give students the numerical grade that they earned. grades are weird

Oh, it's the same. It gets turned into 1st, 2:1, 2:2, 3rd, etc., at the end of the undergraduate degree. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_undergraduate_degree_classification …
