Firstly, it's already very hard to point out behaviour for minorities in science. We get told we're making it up or we're ignored or it's just extremely stressful because we're used to bad things happening when we speak up.

Give them role models, make them feel safe, make them feel listened to, tell them to reach out and talk to me. If me just coining a term like
#bropenscience is enough to catalyse them, SOMETHING DEEPER must be going on. Find out what is pushing them away. -
Perhaps trying to balance the insult and collateral effects of using the term

But can some of them become allies? Perhaps that's what I'm getting at. Calling out sexism is vital. And so supporting even little steps in the right direction.

Hardly so when they prove themselves unable to listen and rather they keep trying to push their views instead.

Yeah, "sit down and listen" sounds harsh but it's often the only way.
