Apologies, I did not mean to give the impression I’m calling anybody a liar. I certainly don’t think
@o_guest is lying. I am expressing that this label excludes me from the diversity, equality, inclusion effort.2 replies 0 retweets 0 likes -

What does excluding you mean in this context?

Thanks for asking for clarification. Appreciate that. In this context, it meant it can make it harder for me to point out the very same behaviour in non-bros.

I don't see how this is personal to you or your identity in the way we usually mean "excluding" people, but I have addressed this before.

Firstly, it's already very hard to point out behaviour for minorities in science. We get told we're making it up or we're ignored or it's just extremely stressful because we're used to bad things happening when we speak up.

Also I have clarified it's also a pun, or even mostly a pun, so you can probably explain it using my logic. I'll ink you to previous cases...

And a good pun at that! I remember laughing out loud when I first read it. Very recognisable. More recently, I have noticed how it deters others at who this pun was not directed.

Do you mean minorities in science? In all honestly, can you tell them to DM me? If they like my puns enough to be worried about open science, they should be happy — I hope — I have a chat. I actually agree with you that pointing out, e.g., sexism in an area will deter women. BUT!

BUT!!! The thing is to fix sexism you DO NOT bring in more women. It's like fixing a toxic gas leak in a mine because your canary died and thinking more canaries will fix it!

Full credit goes to @notnownikki for the canary metaphor. An amazing one from an amazing woman.
