And that’s great, they are the ones that probably need to take a step back and understand that their aggressiveness and even their overrepresentation can push people away.

Their behaviour won’t stop people who believe in
#openscience from doing it who have the conviction and resources to, but it might nonetheless fracture the open science community, create negative vibes, etc. The opposite of openness!1 reply 4 retweets 26 likesShow this thread -
If the idea of an open science community or movement upsets you inherently: oh, dear, this is probably not for you. I care about open science and have practised it in every project I have ever worked on to the best of my abilities.

The fact my making a pun and criticism about certain vocal people’s behaviours by calling them
#bropenscience often results in replies of “why do you hate#openscience?” is telling.1 reply 3 retweets 39 likesShow this thread -

I fully understand the reasoning behind your tweet. But I would argue there is also also a case not to entangle one just cause with another cause even though both are worth pursuing.

I would argue that keeping my narrow definition of OS and your societal concerns distinct helps for conceptual clarity.

I think coexisting differing definitions is fine.

But it's not fine to think open science is only about replicating because that's just historically and actually inaccurate.
