Thank you for the tag. It’s on the minds of the council and the newly formed Public Policy committee, and it’s useful to hear about how other meetings are grappling. I’ll make sure this thread gets to the council members.

While this is very cool it worries me a little as it's a bit of a band aid.

Sorry, i think I lost the thread. What so you think is a bit of a bandaid?

Well, I'm from the Middle East and if I was banned from travel to the USA (and thus from attending SfN) and told "it's OK you can at least present your poster over Skype" I'd still feel like I was missing out a tonne.

Got it & totally agree. My interest isn't in working w/ conferences to allow distance presentations because I agree that's a bandaid (but maybe a good shot term approach). I'm interested in working w/ the State Department and international scientists to make sure y'all get visas.

I haven't thought it all through yet, but if you know a scientist (esp. a student) who's been denied a visa for a conference in the US who'd be willing to share their experience, please put us in touch!

But it's not USA, which is I guess what you can help with more.

These comments are really helpful and, along w/ several private convos, have led me to putting together a statement scientists can sign around the world on things we can do based on where we live + at conferences, w/ resources. Would love your feedback when it's fully drafted.
