UK people who love halloumi but eat it only in burgers... 1. We don't do that in Cyprus. Try in a pitta, then maybe you're being OK. I said maybe. 2. We also eat it as a dessert with watermelon. 3. Do not buy halloumi made from cow's milk or without mint on it. YIAX RE. OK?

And how does Pelopponesian Talagani compare? Have seen it in a London shop and will definitely try it to taste the difference. It is apparently made exclusively from sheep's milk and also flavoured with mint.

It’s a bit sweeter than halloumi, but very similar nevertheless

Thanks. Do you know if it's also traditional or a comparatively recent product?

It’s considered traditional by most but afaik it was produced by a Cypriot who emigrated there, fairly recently. There is also a big souvlaki chain in London that claims to use halloumi but I’m *pretty* sure it’s actually talagani

Surely not the Real Greek using not so real halloumi

Never tried the Real Greek, I was talking about the Athenian (which is co-owned by a Greek and a Cypriot)

Right. Took the plunge tonight and tasted talagani. Couldn't tell the difference from halloumi. Does this make me a bad person? Will I incur the wrath of Olivia?
