Just read a discussion about email etiquette. Lots of people saying it is the height of rudeness to start an email just with the person’s name. That one should alwsys start with Hi/Hello/Dear ... Is this a thing? Have I been unintentionally rude for years?
Yeah, don't worry nationality, ethnicity and all these things become a soup of meaningless words when you emigrate.

Definitely. I have realised you can lose these native cultural things, as well. Friends ask me etiquette questions about the UK and I just don't know anymore after US and Netherlands interference.

In all honesty, I don't know what I am (possibly never have). Am I British Cypriot (what we call a "charlie" in Cyprus)? Am a Cypriot Brit (what UKers call an "expat")? So a repatriated ex-pat or a Cypriot immigrant? Both? Is both even possible?

All I know is I am a Middle Easterner who passes as white up until people who vote UKIP (I guess now Brexit Party) talk to me a little and then spit in my face. And every friend I have from back home who lives/lived in London also has been spat at.

I'm so so sorry that's happened to you

I know there are nice people out there, so that's something.
