I'm not averse to learning from other fields, provided that those who build bridges make the effort to understand what formal theory already exists in psychology so that their efforts can integrate with existing work. In my experience, this rarely happens. Thus, I'm skeptical >

There is a substantial history of people ignoring the existing formal work in psychology, even as they look longingly at physics and wonder why we can't be like them. It's frustrating for those of us who have already been building such models for decades.
